So Busted!

How is This For a Laugh?

A very real article from 1955. Blow it up to read it in all of it's glory!

The Problem is Not the Airbrushing

The problem is that Katie looks slim and great in the original photo. It is disturbing that an attractive woman must be changed to fit some ideal of what the media thinks people want to see. Why does she need to be a size 2? Don't they want their audience to identify with a real woman rather than a Barbie doll? I can understand why someone like Rosie O'Donnell might need to be trimmed down a bit, but this is a bit ridiculous. Come on, people. Back me up here!

Learn About Autism

I have an adorable nephew who is one of my favorite people in the world. I remember watching his birth on October 8, 2000. It was an intense and beautiful moment. Since then, I have watched him grow and smile and laugh. He is like an angel. When he looks up at the sky, his big blue eyes are bluer than any sky you have ever seen. And his smile is even bigger than his eyes are blue. When he laughs, you can't help but smile and sometimes a little giggle escapes from you too.

He will be six years old in a few months. He is growing up very quickly. He is a very special boy. A very special gift to this world. And although he happens to be autistic, I don't think he notices. He is just trying to enjoy life, learn and be happy.

Please watch this video. It is not about my nephew, but it is about another boy who is very similar. 1 in 166 children born today are born on the autistic spectrum. These children are still kids, they run and play and laugh. But, they just need a bit of your time so that you can understand them. That's all. They need special attention so that they can learn to function in a world that does not cater to their needs. And if we all learn more about their needs, maybe it will help them to be happier and to enjoy life even more. And maybe it will help us to learn a bit more about why differences are so important in life.

Cancer News

Cancer update -- Johns Hopkins -- Cancer News from Johns
Hopkins:

1. No plastic containers in micro.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters.
This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well.

Dioxin chemicals causes cancer, especially breast cancer.

Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't
freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

Recently, Dr.. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plas tics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be from the removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over! foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

What the F is Going On?

Is the music industry so void of talent these days that a jack ass like K Fed can score a spot at the Teen Choice Awards? Come on people. Send your kids to choir practice, dance class, guitar lessons, whatever you have to do, but AMERICA NEEDS TALENT! Can we really put performers like KFed on our shelves or in our ipods when they are so clearly terrible?

I am all for everyone getting their shot at fame and expressing themsleves, but this is a joke on us. Mr. Britney Spears has somehow managed to dance himself into Shar Jackson's life and get her knocked up twice, tapped on over to Brit Brit when Shar was still preggers with bambino #2 and then hip hopped into marriage with a now twice pregnant Mrs. Spears (not Mrs. Federline, notice). Does she see the pattern here because just as soon as KFed's career takes off (is that what it is doing?) he should be sliding on into some other famous teen queen's bed. Watch out JoJo, you might be next! Oh no prenup, sorry, that will be half your fortune Brit. Thanks for the fun. Now KFed's gotta run. What a rapper, huh?

If this guy has star quality, I'm going into the ear plug business. Peace.

We 're Off to See the Wizard!

Four United States Presidents get caught up in a tornado
.
And off they whirled to the land of OZ.

They finally made it to the Emerald City and went to
find the Great Wizard .

"What brings the 4 of you before the great Wizard of Oz?

Jimmy Carter stepped forward timidly and said:
"I've come for some courage."

"No Problem! Said the Wizard . Who 's next? "

Richard Nixon stepped forward,
" Well, I think I need a heart."

"Done! Says the Wizard.
Who comes next before the Great and Powerful Oz?"

Up stepped Dubya and said,
"I'm told by the American people that I need a brain."
"No problem! Said the Wizard.
Consider it done."

Then there is a great silence in the hall.
Bill Clinton is just standing there, looking around,
But he doesn't say a word.
Irritated, the Wizard finally asks,

"Well, what do you want?"

"IS DOROTHY HERE?"

Things Are Looking UP!

You lovers of the English language might enjoy this
There is a two-letter word that perhaps
Has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP."
It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP?
At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report ?
We call UP our friends.
And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car. At other times the little word has real special m eaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP! Is special.
And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP
We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.
We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP , you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP .
When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.
When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP
One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP , for now my time is UP, so......... Time to shut UP .!
Oh...one more thing:
What is the first thing you do in the morning & the last thing you do at night?
U - P

(I did not write this, but it is very clever isn't it?)

Microsoft 1978 Company Photo

Does this company photo look like a bunch of future billionaires? Check out Bill Gates in the bottome left hand corner. Anthony Michael Hall crica 1986 or what?! And Paul Allen, worth 20 billion in the bottom right corner. You never know... you never know.

The Gigglin Marlin

In the Atlantic Ocean, 15 miles south of Bermuda, a 32 year old man named Ian Card was impaled by a 14 foot Marlin yesterday. The giant fish carried Card overboard on its three foot long spear and down into the water below. Before drowning, Card managed to dislodge himself from the razor sharp spike and get back to the boat. His 58 year old father was one of the people on the boat who pulled Ian from the water, with the fish still attached. Card was rushed to a hospital after a 40 minute boat ride of profuse bleeding and survived the ordeal.

The resulting wound was less than an inch away from a main artery, meaning Ian Card is a lucky man.
